Our area is buzzing with new retail energy this year, thanks to a vibrant array of new shops and a flea market at the area’s only drive-in movie theater grounds. These fresh additions to our community are redefining local shopping experiences. We’ve pulled together a list of some of the new locations in the Juniata River Valley for you to explore.
Big Valley Prints & Co.- Welcome Big Valley’s newest retail shop, Big Valley Prints & Co! Sister-in-laws turned business partners, McKenna Krepps and Madison Stauffer, are ready to serve the area with their laser engraving, custom apparel, and embroidery services. Located at the former Yoder’s Tees & More location in Belleville, the storefront also offers an adorable array of gifts like locally made candles, soaps, jewelry, duck calls, stickers, games, puzzles, stationary, garden flags, crocheted critters, and so much more. Give them a call to learn about their custom apparel and engraving.
Lost Art Studio & Vintage- This little store of vintage curiosities will bring a smile to your face as it reminds you of the 'lost arts' of years gone by. Lost Art Studio and Vintage owner Kay Kirkland has a vision to find these treasures and encourage her customers to get back to things like a handwritten letter on beautiful paper, a vintage card sent by snail mail, admire the art of calligraphy, and finding that special gift you can't find anywhere else. She is always on the hunt for new retro items for the store, so keep stopping back to see what cool piece of clothing or jewelry, or home decor items she's found to enhance your style.
Decatur Demolition- Never have we ever seen so much reclaimed barn wood and beams in one spot! Looking to build something unique out of reclaimed wood, add character to your home with hand-hewn beams, or just take a walk down memory lane? A trip to Decatur Demolition in McClure is in order to see the enormous displays of timber, plus the antiques and treasures they have found in the old barns they have dismantled. If nothing else, you’ll get inspired by some of the creative lighting and décor they have made from old barn wood and/or industrial equipment.
Butternut Barn- Everything old is new again at Butternut Barn. Named after a beloved 100-year-old butternut tree and century-old barn on the property, the store reflects their passion for everything of yesteryear. The owners love helping people create a beautiful home inside and out with restored antiques, hand-painted quilt signs, florals, and handmade candles. Find them at 501 Pine Glenn Road, Lewistown.
Midway Drive-In Flea Market- The Midway Drive-In Theatre is more than just movies, it’s also the site of a great weekly flea market! Each week stop by to see what vendors have set up for the day to sell anything from antiques, collectibles, arts and crafts, fishing gear, baked goods, and flowers. The market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., April through October. Stop back in the evening to watch some movies on the big screen. Follow their Facebook page to learn what movies are playing.
